Everyone seeks bodywork for their own reasons, what is it that you are looking to achieve?
Any given session may range from deeply relaxing to therapeutically challenging …. or anything in between.
Each treatment will be different as the sessions are tailored around one’s individual needs. Your body is constantly changing so are its needs. Open communication is suggested and encouraged at any time during your treatment. Your words and body language will be listened to and respected. (Because the treatment is personalized we tend to use the terms massage, bodywork, treatment, and session interchangeably - don’t let this confuse you!)
Your time is seen as valuable so your appointment will be kept in a timely fashion. During your session you will be provided with a safe, non-judgmental healing space where confidentiality, trust, and professionalism are of utmost importance.
How to prepare for your session?
Wear soft, loose-fitting clothing. What do you feel comfortable in? Workout clothes, yoga pants, t-shirt, swimsuit, running shorts, sports bra, tank top etc.
Please do not wear any body lotion to your treatments. Body lotion makes it difficult and slippery for the therapist to hold the myofascial release techniques.
Before your initial treatment it is imperative you complete the Client Intake form. Please keep an eye on your inbox - it will be included in the reminder email a few days before your initial appointment - it is very important that the therapist be informed of any health problems or medications you are taking.
What to expect:
Prior to your session, feel free to contact us with any questions. Come in and make yourself at home…empty out your pockets, take off your shoes, grab a glass of water.
During the massage, make yourself comfortable. The practitioner will either gently move you or tell you what is needed throughout the session (such as lifting your arm). It’s truly all about you so do what makes you the most comfortable. Some people leave their eyes open and talk. Others close their eyes and completely relax, communicating only if/when they need more or less pressure, a bolster, a blanket, or anything else relevant to the session.
Your session will contain a combination of Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, and traditional Zen Shiatsu....and may include other modalities including BARS, Silent Prayers for Ancestral Forgiveness, IET, Angelic Energy Healing, Reiki, Cupping, and Aromatherapy. Unlike other traditional therapies or conventional medicine, personalized bodywork does not just focus on the symptoms. It certainly addresses the symptoms but it also identifies and rectifies the root cause of the problem. This will be the reason behind the profound and lasting results.
Self-treatment will be suggested, encouraged and discussed. It is the most effective way to keep up on the progress that is made during your sessions. It is our goal to help you reduce pain, restore motion and increase performance. Sleep, laughter, a good diet, and a healthy lifestyle compliments bodywork and speeds recovery.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure.
Massage and bodywork are also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
After the session, most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Some delayed soreness may also be experienced. This is a NATURAL part of the healing process. Drink plenty of water. And, give yourself permission to experience any (and all) sensations, which may continue to arise days after your treatment, to the fullest.
How many sessions will I need?
There are many factors that play a role in the healing process. That being said, many people experience a decrease in pain or increase in range of motion after just one session. Depending on your therapeutic goals, current situation, and discipline with self-therapy, sessions weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, for 4 to 16 weeks is a fair estimate of necessary time.
